Hi, I’m Jenny, and I’m here to offer a helping hand as you plan for, and approach, end of life.
I am a carer, a personal assistant, a support person and an advocate. I am also a planner, a preparer and an organiser. For the last 12 years I have directly supported aged and disability clients. I am now specialising in compassionate end-of-life care and planning, in the beautiful Northern Rivers region of NSW.
As an End of Life Doula, I offer a non-medical, secular and practical service. My approach is non-judgemental and honours your autonomy and choice. Respecting your individuality, your values and your dignity are important to me.
I can help you to prepare your Advance Care Directive; provide transport and note taking for attending appointments; coordinate your support network and collaborate with your healthcare team; plan and create personal, meaningful farewells such as a living wake, vigil, home funeral or memorial service; de-clutter or undertake “Swedish Death Cleaning” with you; and realise special legacy projects (such as gifting, letters and recording your stories).
To ease the load and give you more time with the people you love, I am happy to help with everyday chores like running errands, picking up kids, doing the shopping or washing up, taking care of laundry and changing the sheets. I’m not much of a cook, but I can do simple food prep or heat a meal.
I can provide calm, guidance and emotional support to your loved ones, and temporary respite for carers when they need a break.
I will sit quietly and just be present when that is what you need. I am patient, kind and cheerful but most importantly, I listen and am guided by you – your pace, your priorities, your boundaries.
Beyond my career in direct care, I bring broad lived experience to my work – everything from careers in publishing and events management to a deep understanding of being in the “sandwich generation” as a daughter, mother and as a sister, aunty and trusted friend. I have personal experience of stillbirth loss and caring for family with dementia. There have been numerous beloved animal companions of all varieties in my life. I recognise the value of diversity and multiculturalism from travelling widely and growing up as a “third culture kid”. I am awed by great art, architecture, literature and nature. I delight in dance, drumming, crafting with textiles, playing games and doing puzzles. I am curious and interested in the affairs of the world, and always eager to learn.
I look forward to getting to know you, learning what is important to you, and discovering what lights you up and brings you joy. As your End of Life Doula companion, we can work together to ensure these remain at the centre of your life and are preserved and reflected in the legacy you create.
